Best thing if you are after gold is to buy some test nuggets to learn what to listen out for. The xterra will take a while to learn how to use it propertly especially if you are detecting on mineralized ground where it can become unstable, you will need to dial down sensitivity quite a lot.
Adelong is not that far away which is a pretty good spot to have a swing, Gold has also been found at Junee and Temora. The 705 are a good treasure detector for parks/beach etc and still has prospecting mode for gold. Have used a xterra 70 for a while and they are good for prospecting mullock heaps for speccies that have been missed. Best thing if you are after gold is to buy some test nuggets to learn what to listen out for. The xterra will take a while to learn how to use it propertly especially if you are detecting on mineralized ground where it can become unstable, you will need to dial down sensitivity quite a lot. Good luck with your adventures Nickogee15 ;)
