    Old historical park

Well done Goldbuzz, Some really good finds there, I bet you and Scoopa were stoked with that lot. Talking to the old locals is definitely the go, it is amazing what little bits of information they can pass on that leads to a hot spot! Good to see the silvers still coming. I will PM you

    Advice on a pinpointer

Hi there, I think they are fairly similar in performance, however I understand the Garrett will interfere with your minelab gold detector if you are thinking of using it in the goldfields, even when it is turned off! I have the Minelab pointer and find it great as it is adjustable in...

    Minelab CTX3030 tips, settings, questions

Blue, Congratulations on the addition to the family! Better go to the Gym and do some working out before you start to swing that big coil. That is a monster! You will certainly cover some territory with that thing :P . I can't wait to get my grubby little hands on that detector and to get some...

    2013 finds - Goldbuzzhashit

Hi GB, Some nice finds there. Did you notice a difference in the numbers and tones of the shillings and the Florins? Better keep an eye open for 12-20/21 and 12-29/30 and pick up the half and full Sovereigns that could be laying there as this sounds like the type of place you could find one :P

    Minelab E-trac tips, settings, questions

Hi GB, Are you sure about the reading of 13f-53c or was that a typo error. The highest an E-Trac should read in ferrous is 35 and the highest in conductivity is 50. If it is in fact reading 53 conduct, there must be some gremlins in the system. I have experienced on a couple of occasions wet...

minelab ctx 3030 metal detector worth the upgrade?

Nugget, I have been playing with the idea for some time now and I know it has lots of features. But would I use them! The real plus for me would be the CTX being waterproof and being based on E-Trac technology the learning curve would be a lot easier. Also instead of having a machine for the...

    2013 finds - Goldbuzzhashit

Hi Goldbuzz, Some very good finds there and you are really going on the silvers now! For cleaning silvers I use Earth Choice Bathroom and Shower Cleaner mixed with some water let them soak for an hour and brush gently with a baby's toothbrush (very soft) and this brings them up very nicely. This...

Your thoughts about $2 and $1 coins ratio?

When I don't have time to travel to an out of town site or I only want a quick hunt I will often go to the local parks or sporting grounds and hunt for goldies. What I have noticed is that on nearly all hunts I seem to find about two $2 to every $1 coin. Now, is this because the $2 coin is...

    2013 Finds - Nugget

Hi Nugget, I have several sites that I have been to and the same result. In my opinion the really old coins are still there! If it is in a low area in the Hunter Valley I think the really old coins are down very deep. I am fairly certain the problem is flood mud that has been deposited there...

Pete, Great find there and some nice silver there, bet that put a big smile on your face. Going by the condition of the coins they were not very old when they were lost.

    What is this old coin?

Hi Nugget, Try puting some baking tray paper over the side where the monarch has their head and rub a lead pencil while keeping the pencil laying flat you will get an outline. Some of our early english monarchs had very distinctive heads, thats being polite. hopefully you will be able to...

    What is this old coin?

Hi Nugget, Almost certain it will be an english penny from about 1825 to ?, Go to coinsgb and you will be able to narrow it down. The site gives detailed information on each coin including the size and material it is made from. I have several pennies like that and it is really a shame the acids...
