    Good hunt tonight.

Had my best hunt to date tonight. $12.80 in change in a 2hr period hunting one of the local parks. I know it's only a small amount compared to a lot of members but I'm happy with it. I also scored my oldest coin, a 1908 British 3 pence. I was also using my new Garrett pinpointer, geez these make...

    Ghost Towns in WA.

The historical society in my local town compiled a list of Ghost towns in WA. I'm not sure if it covers all of WA because I have just looked at the ones closest to me but I do know that this list would be great for treasure seekers and gold hunters alike. I have checked out a few of the smaller...

    FYI Gold and Ghosts

The librarian also told me that these books covered the shelves when she started her career. There was also a $45 price tag on one of the volumes.

    FYI Gold and Ghosts

Just a bit of information forum members might be interested in. Not sure if this has been posted before so sorry if it has and I'm sorry if it's against forum guidelines. I just spent the day at a library reading the first 2 Gold and Ghost books. When I was finished and handing them back I was...

    Finally!!

Sa bogan it wasn't the WOT coil just the 10.5 DD 7.5 KHz. Have found that it is getting me better depth than the 10.5 elliptical and finding it easier to seperate targets so far.

    Finally!!

Thanks guys Hopefully the first of many. I've got a lead on a place that is producing plenty of coins but I've also been told the ground is extremely hard so I'll have to wait for a bit of rain to soften it up. Only other problem is it's so damn hot here so not great detecting weather.

    Finally!!

Went for a quick hunt this morning to try out the new coil for the 705. After 2 hrs and finding nothing but used .22 shells, building rubble and the usual junk while also fighting off a swarm of ants running up my legs I finally found my first pre decimal coin, a 1948 penny. This was the most...

What To Look For On The Goldfields (New To Prospecting)

Very informative stuff Loamer. The diagram explains a lot. I would have gone straight for the bottom of the hill not thinking I'd get possible gold close to the surface part way up the hill. Do you know if the workings of the old timers were the same Australia wide, or did methods change from...

Found at a local disused railway station

Hey guys, Had a little 10 minute hunt on my way back from another hunt at a disused railway station that started operation in 1915. As soon as I started swinging the 705 was going off and it seemed that there were targets everywhere. I only had a few minutes to dig so i managed to get these 2...

Minelab X-terra 705 General Tips, Advice, Questions

Hey Guys, I have just recently received my Xterra 705 (gold pack) and I was wondering what other coils should I get for it. I think it will be a while before I go searching for some gold as the weather is starting to get really hot and I am just starting to learn my machine. The good thing is...

At least I know it works.

Hey Guys, Got my Xterra 705 (gold pack) this week and being new to detecting I thought I'd get started in the yard and one of the local parks. So far it's been a big learning curve but I am just starting to understand my detector. I've found 2 sterling silver spoons and a few coins in the yard...
